China Energy Inaugurates Hydrogen Energy (Low Carbon) Research Center

A ceremony was held in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, on December 7 for the launch of Jiangmen’s “dual carbon” laboratory and the signing of cooperation agreements between the municipal government of Jiangmen and partners including China Energy Investment Corporation. On the sidelines of the ceremony, China Energy inaugurated its Hydrogen Energy (Low Carbon) Research Center.

Seizing the opportunities brought by the national strategy of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, Jiangmen established a “dual carbon” laboratory to carry out research on cutting-edge and key technologies. Two supporting projects, namely the Jiangmen “dual carbon” industrial park for new energy vehicles and the Guanghai Bay “dual carbon” energy industrial park, will be established to facilitate the transformation and industrialization of technological achievements, accelerate energy structure adjustment, and promote industrial technology upgrading and low-carbon green development. The establishment of China Energy’s Hydrogen Energy (Low Carbon) Research Center in Jiangmen can help achieve technology exchange and advantage complementation with the city’s “dual carbon” laboratory. As a first-tier R&D platform of China Energy, the newly-established Hydrogen Energy (Low Carbon) Research Center will collaborate with National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy, Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. and China Energy Guangdong Branch to make full use of resources at local offshore wind farms and the Taishan Power Plant to build a demonstration base for wind-solar-hydro-thermal-storage integration and coupled hydrogen production and application.

On the same day, China Energy Guangdong Branch signed an agreement with the municipal government of Jiangmen to deepen cooperation, with aims to better integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction, actively align with Guangdong Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan for Energy Development, and accelerate the high-quality development of China Energy’s businesses in Guangdong.
