CTG achieves a world first with 1 GW hydraulic generator passing electrical testing-1

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has once again proved itself as a leading innovator in hydropower construction, completing the electrical testing of the world's first 1 GW hydraulic generator at its under-construction Baihetan hydropower plant on July 30.The generator, which has been installed in the underground facility on the left bank of Baihetan hydropower plant, completed testing on its No. 1 pit stator winding. The testing was completed with excellent overall pressure endurance performance, marking the successful installation of the core component. The stator winding at Baihetan hydropower plant tops the global hydropower industry with an output power of 1000 MW and a rated voltage of 24 KV.Baihetan Hydropower Station has installed eight generators, each with a capacity of 1 GW, on the left and right banks respectively. The No.1 generator on the left bank is one of the first generators to be put into operation. Its stator winding passed various electrical tests including overall pressure endurance testing, laying a solid foundation for subsequent hoisting of rotors and the commissioning of the first batch of power units.
