Power generation dropped 8.2% year on year in the first two months in 2020

On March 16, the National Bureau of Statistics released "Energy Production in January-February 2020", showing that in the first two months of this year, industrial power/power generation in secondary industry and coal production above designated size declined, while crude oil and natural gas production maintained growth.


According to the statistics, from January to February, the electric power generation was 1026.7TWh, with an average daily electric power generation of 171.1TWh, a year-on-year decrease of 8.2%. Among them, thermal power and hydropower declined significantly, nuclear power and wind power declined slightly, and solar power generation grew steadily. Specifically, thermal power decreased by 8.9% year-on-year, hydropower decreased by 11.9%, nuclear power decreased by 2.2%, wind power decreased by 0.2%, and solar power generation increased by 12.0%.
