CTG's Pakistan wind power project starts localized operations

A Pakistan wind farm, the first green field investment project of CTG International, the overseas arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), handed its operation and maintenance management to China Yangtze Power in late June, making it the first overseas project to be operated by the power arm of CTG and further expanding CTG's global footprint.

Located in the Jhimpir Wind Corridor, Thatta District of Sindh Province in Pakistan, the project consists of three wind farms with a total installed capacity of 148.5 MW built in two phases.

The phase I of the project is the first wind farm invested by CTG in Pakistan and now stands as an industry benchmark in the country. Phase II of the project has been included in a list of key projects for promotion under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, and is also the first CTG-built CPEC project that starts operation.  

The handover will help improve the professionalization and standardization of the operation and maintenance of the Pakistan wind power project. At the same time, with the introduction of CTG's expertise in operation and management of power station, local practitioners in the power industry can further get access to, and then adapt and recognize the Chinese standards.

In addition, it will help cultivate more professionals specialized in localized operation and maintenance, accumulating the experience of operation, maintenance and management that would be used in other overseas projects in the future.
