He Xiqiang Attends the Global Energy Interconnection & China-Africa Energy and Power Conference

Beijing - The Global Energy Interconnection & China-Africa Energy and Power Conference was recently held at the China National Convention Center.

The two-day event focused on the two concurrent themes of "Global Energy Interconnection - A Road of Green, Low-Carbon and Sustainable Development" and "African Energy Interconnection - New Growth Driver of Africa",

He Xiqiang, Vice President of China Southern Power Grid was among the more than 1,000 invited guests from 79 countries and regions to gather and discuss key issues under the themes of “GEI - A Path towards Green, Low-carbon and Sustainable Development” and “African Energy Interconnection - A New Growth Driver of Africa”, drawing a new blueprint for the world’s energy transition and sustainable development.

The two-day conference was sponsored by Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization and co-sponsored by State Grid Corporation of China, Association of Power Utilities of Africa, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank.

In addition to plenary meeting, a number of thematic forums were held in parallel to discuss topics of clean energy development, economic and social development, electrification and industrialization development in Africa; co-development of electricity, mining, metallurgy, manufacturing and trade; power interconnection, investment and financing … while echoing the themes of African Energy Interconnection.

More than 600 representatives?from government departments, international organizations, enterprises and universities participated in the event. More than 10 ministerial officials from Energy Ministries and ambassadors of African countries to China as well as 70 senior representatives from?international organizations, heads of corporation, institutions, academicians and fellows addressed the conference.
