Nuer Baixkeli Visits CSG, Calling for Proactive and Steady Promotion of Power System Reform as well as Vigorous Construction of World-leading Power Grid Company-1

As CSG is in the critical stage of promoting a new round of reform and development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, on September 7 and 8, Nur Bekri, Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Director General of the National Energy Administration, inspected CSG. Nur Bekri and his delegation paid visits to CSG’s Power Dispatching and Control Center, Guangzhou Power Exchange Center and Huizhou Pumped-storage Power Station. They convened a symposium and listened to the company’s work report. Bekri fully recognized CSG’s achievements so far this year, and encouraged the company to consolidate market-oriented reform, actively and steadily promote energy reforms including the reform on power system. Still, he expected CSG to center on its goal of building itself into a world-leading power grid company, strive to do better in its own businesses, and ensure power supply for the economic and social development of South China.

At the Power Dispatching and Control Center, Nur Bekri learned about the development of power grids and power sources in South China, and enquired about measures to prevent system operation risks. He attached great importance to the safe power operation, and stressed that CSG should ensure reliable and safe power supply.

After listening to a report on CSG’s latest development, Nur Bekri congratulated the company on its contributions to regional power safety and reliability as well as economic and social development. “In particular, it is worth mentioning that both the capacity and power generation of non-fossil energy account for 50% of the total, which is much higher than the national average.” He fully recognized the company’s success in safe operation, stable growth, steady reform and strong management, and highly valued CSG’s overall planning for its new round of reform and development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. He hoped that CSG would stick to the goal by continuously improving its work in all respects, ensuring power supply for South China’s economic and social development, and building itself into a world-leading power grid company.

After visiting Guangzhou Power Exchange Center and listening to its work report, Nur Bekri said that there were good practices in promoting power system reform, especially in market-oriented power exchange and shareholding exchange agencies. It was hoped that CSG would reinforce its market-oriented reform, and actively and steadily promote energy reforms including the power system reform. Nur Bekri spoke highly of the Exchange Center, commenting that “CSG has a high starting point and accurate positioning. It has formed an orderly, reasonable and healthy market exchange system in a short time.” He urged CSG to sum up experience and further probe into marketized power exchange against the background of socialist economy.

At Huizhou Pumped-storage Power Station, Nur Bekri visited the company’s culture exhibition hall, the plant control center and the equipment in the underground powerhouse. As the pumped-storage power station with the largest installed capacity in China, the station boasts impressive equipment, technological innovation and management, playing a critical role in securing the safe, stable and economical operation of power grid. Bekri encouraged CSG to further enhance its innovation capabilities, push for technological advances and equipment upgrading, and strive to become a world-leading power grid company.

During the symposium, Li Qingkui, Board Chairman of CSG, noted that Bekri’s visit is an encouragement to the company and its employees. CSG would earnestly carry out his instructions, make amendments and improvement to its 13th Five-Year Plan, and strictly follow the rules of the market, the power industry and the society. To grow into a world-leading power grid company, it would promote power system reform in an active and proper way, and better serve the local economic and social development.

Topics such as hydropower consumption in Yunnan Province, mid-and-long-term development of power sources in South China and the coordination of power exchange agencies among provinces were addressed during the symposium. Li Qingkui, Board Chairman of CSG, Cao Zhi’an, President of CSG, Yang Zhihong, Head of Discipline Inspection Commission, He Xiqiang, Jiang Yi and Chen Yunpeng, Vice Presidents of CSG also attended the symposium or accompanied above-mentioned visits. Li Chunsheng, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Zhong Xuanhui, Deputy Secretary-General of Guangdong Government, leaders of Guangdong Reform and Development Commission and the Economic and Information Commission, Chen Yiwei, Secretary of Huizhou Municipal Party Committee, Han Shui, Director of the Power Department of the National Energy Administration, leaders of South China Energy Regulatory Bureau, leaders of CSG, Guangdong Power Grid Company and Power Generation Company attended related events.
