Guangzhou - As the industry that has become a main growth engine of the national economy, industrial stability leads to economic stability and as an economic barometer, electrical power today plays a vital role.
China Southern Power Grid senior leaders are doing their best to provide reliable power supply services and to make increased strategic investments in power facilities to ensure that all enterprises have access to abundant electrical power.
By doing so, CSG consistently propels the steady growth of the macro-economic and appropriate economic operation.
Ensuring power supply to high-tech enterprises
A year-on-year increase of 37.83% in power consumption in the “three new” economy in January
The consistent operation of electrical power is intertwined with the development of high-tech industries and star enterprises.
Taking the new energy vehicle industry as an example, data released from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 452,000 units and 431,000 units in January, 1.3 times and 1.4 times increase year-on-year respectively. In particular, BYD’s new energy vehicle sales increased by 367.6% year on year.
Wu Chenggui, deputy general manager of BYD’s Logistics Department Power Center, said that the power supply from Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau “has always been amazingly robust.”
Last year, the factory gained “two transmission lines for power supply”, and at the beginning of this year, it expanded its transformer capacity by 50,000 kVA, to ensure a stable and sufficient power supply when there is a surge in the car production and sales.
CSG engineers have been able to “remotely sense” the power service in some high-tech enterprises. In Guizhou, the first national big data comprehensive pilot zone, the Guian Power Supply Bureau of Guizhou Power Grid Co., Ltd. set up the “Guian Cloud” power service team. By analyzing the data changes in the power grid back-end system, it is able to detect and solves customers’ power problems quickly and provide consistent supporting of the development of the big data industry by providing big data on the power supply.
The development of high-tech industries is a good beginning with an adequate power supply. China Southern Power Grid consumption data show that in January of this year, the “three new” economies (new industry, new business format, and new business model), including new energy vehicle manufacturing, internet data service, and seven other industries reached a total power consumption of 11.9264 billion kWh in the whole society, a year-on-year increase of 37.8%.
The full implementation of power installation at “zero cost” in small and micro enterprises this year
The 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games triggered a buying spree for the mascot “Bing Dwen”. Many people complained about the difficulty in purchasing their own Bing Dwen Dwen doll.
At the Dongguan Zhongsheng Rubber Products Co., Ltd. in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, workers on the Bing Dween Dwen production line are rotating shifts to rush out the “silicone shells” of the mascot.
According to the Company’s business manager Ms. Li, “the 800 daily production capacity a week ago has now doubled to 1,600.”
This rapid increase in the production capacity also brought a surge in power load. Within a week, the Company’s power load increased by 40%.
Ms. Li said, “the service from CSG is excellent and timely! When we put forward our power demands, the personnel from the Power Supply Bureau responded quickly and coordinate the process immediately.”
Small and medium-sized enterprises are an important force in stabilizing industrial economics. This year, CSG senior leaders will support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. It will fully implement the power installation at “zero cost” for enterprises whose power capacity is below 200 kW in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and those whose capacity is below 160 kW in other areas.
Concurrently, CSG senior leaders promotes all industrial and commercial users to enter the market, and standardize the purchase of power, assisting small and medium-sized enterprises, individual industrial and commercial households as well as the manufacturing industry in power purchasing.
Increasing investment in new infrastructure, a year-on-year growth of 9.7% in January
In addition to providing high-quality power services, CSG is also increasing its investments in the further development of electrical power and accelerating the construction of a new power system, boosting economic growth.
In China Southern Power Grid’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, investment will exceed 620 billion yuan. This year’s planned investment in fixed assets will reach 125 billion yuan. By the end of January, the company's investment has reached 5.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%.
Among these future investments, a major investment in electric power infrastructure projects in January was close to 5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of about 9.7%.
Since Chinese New Year 2022, the construction of CSG infrastructure projects has been in full swing, covering five southern provinces, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan.
Several key projects, including the Fujian-Guangdong power grid interconnection project, the back-to-back DC project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Meizhou and Yangjiang pumped storage power stations in Guangdong will all be placed into operation this year.
For the Fujian-Guangdong power grid interconnection project (Guangdong side), the Guangdong Power Transmission and Distribution Engineering Co., Ltd. started construction on the third day of the Chinese New Year holiday and is expected to be fully operational in September of this year. The back-to-back DC project of the Central Channel of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is slated to be  operational by the end of March.
Engineering investment creates good paying jobs and plays a real role in boosting economic growth.
The Central Chanel site will “have two to three hundred people for a long time” to carry out construction operations to ensure timely completion, according to Lu Linhuang, who is in charge of electric mounting in the Fujian-Guangdong power grid interconnection project (Guangdong side).
In Guizhou Province’s Qianxinan Prefecture, the 220 kV grid substation construction project covering Ceheng and Wangmo County has begun with hundreds of workers and more than 10 excavators, bulldozers, and loaders in operation.
The engineering construction of the Guangxi Power Grid has gradually resumed work and launched their projects after the Lantern Festival. “Up to February 18th , we have started and resumed 132 projects with 1,216 people in engineering construction,” according to Dang Yongnan, senior manager of quality management section in infrastructure department of the Guangxi Power Grid Company.
Dang said he expected that by the end of February of this year that the number of projects started and resumed would peak at 1,132, and “the number of people who start construction will exceed 10,000.”
