Cao Peixi visits Germany

From March 27 to 31, President of China Huaneng Group Cao Peixi visited Germany. Witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Huaneng Power International Inc., Siemens AG, and Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation in Berlin, Germany. Cao Peixi signed the MOU on behalf of Huaneng Power International Inc. Cao Peixi also attended the China-Germany Business Dinner in Dusseldorf Germany, at which Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech entitled "Seizing the opportunities in China to achieve common development".

Cao Peixi met with Ursula Borak, head of Directorate “International Energy Policies” of Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, Germany. Cao Peixi introduced the latest development of China Huaneng Group and its achievements in power source restructuring, energy saving and emissions reduction, clean technology R&D etc., and also elaborated on the policies, regulations and measures of the Chinese government in promoting energy saving and environmental protection. Ursula Borak extended her admiration for the Chinese government’s strong commitment to tackle climate change and the achievements of China Huaneng Group. She briefly introduced the German energy policies, and expressed support for further cooperation between German companies and Chinese companies.

Cao Peixi also met with Joe Kaesar, President and CEO of Siemens AG, Roland Fischer, CEO of Siemens Power Generation Group, and Xu Jianguo, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd., and exchanged opinions on deepening cooperation on efficiency improvement and clean energy. Cao Peixi also visited Siemens gas turbine factory in Berlin.
