Thermal Power Plant with Largest Capacity in the 1 Million KW Class of the World—Huaneng Yuhuan Project Leading New Trend of Coal-fired Power Development in China

Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant project is the first homemade USC coal-fired generator unit project of 1 million KW built and put into operation in China. The plan is to install 4 such units by using a total investment of about 15.6 billion Yuan.Phase 1 of the project was started in June 2004 and involved the construction of 2 units, which were completed and put intooperation in December 2006. Phase 2 involved the continued the construction of 2 more units, which were completed and put intooperation in November 2007, enabling the plant to become a thermal power plant with the largest capacity in the USC 1 million KWclass of the world. According to experts, in less than 3 years and a half, the continuous construction and production of 4 USC generatorunits of 1 million KW in one year not only has no precedent at home and abroad, but is also a miracle in the construction of coal-fired power plants.
