China Huaneng Group Winning the UN Global Compact Award“Notable Report” Award for China’s Corporate Social Responsibility

On August 2, the first “UN Global Compact • China Leaders Forum” was held in the UN Pavilion in Shanghai World Expo Park. The Sustainable Development Report of China Huaneng Group 2009 won the 2010 Global Compact • “Characteristic Style Award” for the sample report on China’s corporate social responsibility.

The attendees discussed and compared notes about the latest development trend of international social responsibility around topics like “Global Compact Sustainable Development Leadership Blueprint”, “CSR and UN Millennium Development Goal”, “CSR and Sustainable Development in Post- Crisis Era”. As a representative of Chinese power producers, China Huaneng Group made a sample speech at the forum to introduce its major practices and effect in taking measures to save energy, promoting green development, supporting programs for public good and boosting social harmony, receiving favorable comments.

The forum presented the “Notable Report” award of 2010 Global Compact • China’s CSR to a dozen of enterprises, including the State Grid, Cosco Group and the State Development Bank. The forum published An Inspirational Guide to Implementing the United Nations Global Compact-China. The case of China Huaneng Group is included in the book under the title “Responsibility Creates Future, Love Sows Hope”
