Wen Shugang goes to Vietnam and Philippines on inspection tour and addresses the 2019 AESIEAP CEO conference

On September 17 to 24, 2019, CHD Chairman of the Board Wen Shugang went to Vietnam and Philippines for the 2019 AESIEAP CEO conference and inspection of CHD’s Duyen Hai 2 Thermal Power Project.

On September 17 to 21, during his tour in Vietnam, Wen Shugang met with Chinese ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, Vietnamese Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An and EVN Chairman of Management Board Duong Quang Thanh, exchanging views on jointly promoting clean and low-carbon development and the construction of Belt and Road initiative, and reached important consensus.

While meeting with Chinese ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, Wen Shugang briefly introduced CHD’s latest development achievements and project progress in Vietnam, and expressed gratitude for the embassy’s great support and help. Wen Shugang said that according to requirements of the high-quality construction of BRI, CHD actively and steadily promoted relevant projects and received recognition of all relevant parties. It will further actively respond to strategic measures of connecting “China’s BRI initiative with Vietnam’s “Two Corridors and One Economic Circle” plan, strengthen connectivity, shoulder social responsibilities and contribute to win-win development of the two countries. Xiong Bo introduced latest political and economic dynamic and key cooperation areas of the two countries. He highlighted that Vietnam is an important country along the BRI route and power industry is a key area for mutual cooperation. He expected CHD to conduct solid work for progressing the project and forestall risks to promote infrastructure cooperation between two countries to a deeper and broader sphere.

While meeting with Vietnamese Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An, Wen Shugang said that CHD is willing to leverage its advantages of advanced technologies and clean and environmental-friendly development, and to build its projects in Vietnam as a model for sustainable development and contribute to improving Vietnamese national economy and people’s life. Dang Hoang An appreciated CHD’s investment to Vietnamese power sector. He called on all relevant parties to continue their work for realizing operation at an early stage and he welcomed CHD to further provide technically-advanced, safe and reliable power infrastructure.

While meeting with EVN Chairman of Management Board Duong Quang Thanh, Wen Shugang pledged to deliver high-quality work for progressing Duyen Hai 2 project. He called on two sides to strengthen exchanges, expand cooperation for win-win development. Duong Quan Thanh briefly introduced Vietnamese power sector transformation and upgrading and hoped that Duyen Hai project will enter operation at an early stage, and that two side will deliver new results in clean energy development in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, Wen Shugang traveled over 10 hours by car to investigate Duyen Hai 2 project construction progress. In the meeting with relevant parties of construction, Wen Shugang said that the standard on-site management, scientific and effective construction and reasonable working progress fully manifest collaboration and hard work of project team and relevant parties. He called on all parties to boost sense of responsibility, utilize resources at hand, join efforts and work hard to overcome obstacles and to build the project as a model. In Hanoi, Wen Shugang went to Duyen Hai 2 project office and CHDEC’s representative office in Vietnam, visited on-site employees and encouraged them to work hard to promote CHD achieving new progress in Vietnam.

On September 22 to 24, Wen Shugang attended the 2019 AESIEAP CEO Conference in Philippines, delivered a speech under the title of “Empowering with Integrated Energy for Better Cities”, and shared views with delegates from Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Meralco and TEPCO on “"CEO's Point of View: The New Energy Future Enabling Socially Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities”.

During his stay in Philippines, Wen Shugang met with the representative of Chinese embassy in Philippines, and hold talks with president or CEOs of Napocor (National Power Corporation, Philippines) , Meralco (Manila Electric Rail and Light Company, Philippines), EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Thailand), TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia), SP Group (Singapore), CLP Power Hong Kong Limited on topic including power industry trends, project cooperation and enterprise governance.

Heads of General Administration Department and CHEC (China Huadian Engineering Company) also attended the activities stated above.
