China’s first GTC-80II heavy-haul railway phased array flow detection vehicle completed calibration and operation tests at the Dahongcheng station of the Datong-Zhungeer line of Xinshuo Railway Co., Ltd. under China Energy on September 3.

The tests were carried out several times at the speed of 80km/h on the railroads with calibrated heavy loads of 60Kg/m and 75Kg/m, respectively. The test results were confirmed by the evaluation team headed by Zhang Yuhua from the Infrastructure Inspection Research Institute under China Academy of Railway Sciences. The detection rate exceeded 90 percent, meeting the requirements stipulated in relevant contract.

The successful tests marked that the GTC-80II heavy-haul railway phased array flow detection vehicle has basically had the capacity of automatically detecting flaws while maintaining high-speed running. This lays a solid foundation for it to meet the demand of heavy-haul railway flaw detection, and provides important technical support for eventually achieving rapid, continuous and all-weather detection, reducing human workload, and enhancing flaw detection and equipment maintenance efficiency. It will further ease the pressure on safety control and enhance refined management.
