Since the beginning of November, regions in northern China have consecutively kicked off the heating season. All major coal-fired power plants’ consumptions of coal are increasing day by day. Coal demand and supply are both growing at rates higher than expected. With focus on China Energy’s “integrated” transportation goals, the Baotou-Shenmu Railway took the opportunity to further optimize regional transport structures and adjust the proportions of C80, C64 and C70 trains. It has also formulated combined schedules for 10,000-ton trains at different stations and increased the operations of such trains. Those measures give full play to the transport capacity of the south line of the Baotou-Shenmu Railway and the Shenmu-Shuozhou rail line, in an effort to restore the number of transfer trains at the south boundary of Shenchi to the historical high of 204. The railway has fully leveraged its capacity in integrated resource transportation. Moreover, a new passage to transport coal from the Shangwan Mine of Shendong Coal to SNCG Chemical Co., Ltd. was opened, creating a new growth point for the railway. Taking the increased coal imports via land ports along the Ganquan rail line as an opportunity, the railway takes the initiative to find clients and restore short-distance indigenous coal transportation services between land ports and Wanshuiquan Railway Station and between land ports and Wanshuiquan South Railway Station, not only increasing the freight volumes of the Ganquan rail line and the entire railway, but also laying a solid foundation for accomplishing the transportation target for this year.
