from:China Energy Investment Corporationdate:2020-04-13

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, China Energy Investment Corporation has made all-out efforts to ensure employees’ health and safe production while taking prevention and control measures against the virus. As of April 5, the anti-epidemic situation of all its overseas enterprises had remained stable, with zero suspected carriers and zero infections reported, and all its overseas projects had been operating normally.

A steering group was established to direct and supervise the implementation of epidemic prevention and control mechanism at relevant overseas subsidiaries. Every overseas company has adopted timely measures. The South Africa Company and Canada Company of China Longyuan Power Group Corporation extensively contacted suppliers to purchase protective supplies such as face masks, disinfectant liquid and googles. Overseas employees of China Shenhua Overseas Development & Investment Co., Ltd. stocked up sufficient living necessities and anti-epidemic supplies. Guohua Electric Power’s infrastructure projects under construction all adopted a region-specific, multi-level approach to epidemic control, attached special attention to the staff who keep contact with the outside such as coal loading and unloading workers and logistics procurement personnel, and placed frontline workers under “soft quarantine” within the stretch between the construction site and dorms to avoid going out unless necessary. The Australia and Greece projects of Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. have asked all employees to work from home.

Attaching equal importance to epidemic prevention and safe production, overseas subsidiaries of China Energy have provided steady energy sources for local epidemic containment efforts. China Longyuan’s South Africa Company generated 191.4 million kWh of electricity in the first quarter, with a unit utilization rate of over 99.3 percent. The power generation by South Sumatra Power Plant of Guohua Power in the first quarter saw an increase of 9.8 percent over the same period of last year, making the project the most stable power source in South Sumatra, Indonesia. After completion, Unit 1 generator of the power plant in Java, Indonesia, had been operating safely for 111 consecutive days, generating more than 2.179 billion kWh of electricity, effectively improving the stability of the Java-Bali power system. Guohua Energy Investment’s Australia project generated 265 million kWh of electricity in the first quarter, and its Greece project had achieved 30.76 percent of its annual plan, advancing the schedule by 5.28 percent. Based on thorough study and analysis of the impact of the epidemic situation, the Russia, America and Mongolia companies of China Shenhua Overseas Development & Investment Co., Ltd. formulated detailed response plans to ensure smooth operation of their projects and the health and safety of their employees.
