On January 5, Taizhou Power Plant of the Jiangsu branch of China Energy was granted the Commendation Prize at China Grand Awards for Industry for the two 1000MW double-reheating coal-fired generation units of its phase-2 project, making it the country’s only coal-fired power firm and project to win the honor this year.

As the country’s highest honor for industrial achievements, China Grand Awards for Industry was established as a biennale event upon the ratification of the State Council. It is dubbed the Oscars for Industry in China. As the first and largest of their kind in the world, the two 1000MW double-reheating coal-fired generation units of Taizhou Power Plant’s phase-2 project was included in the National Science and Technology Support Program for the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) by the Ministry of Science and Technology and cited as a high-efficiency coal-fired power generation demonstration project by the National Energy Administration of China. The project has won the First Prize for Progress in Electrical Science and Technology and the National Golden Prize for Excellent Project in China. Moreover, it has been granted the titles of “Golden-grade Generation Units with High Reliability” and “Demonstration Power Station for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction.” Results of this project have been applied in more than 40 660MW and 1000MW coal-fired power generation units of several large companies.
