Nyainrong is an eminently pastoral county, with animal husbandry as the pillar of its economy. China Energy’s Tibet-aid workers specially organized a trade fair in Beijing to help market the county’s livestock products and promote industrialization of its livestock production. Meanwhile, they worked to attract powerful companies from the rest of the autonomous region to Nyainrong County to produce yak beef and expand internet marketing channels. They also launched a graduates entrepreneurship model that inspires Nyainrong natives studying and working in other mainland regions to market Nyainrong products with help of China Energy’s e-commerce platforms for poverty alleviation through consumption, striving to promote sales of the county’s specialties such as beef, yogurt, milk dregs and other livestock products nationwide.

Since starting pairing assistance in Tibet in 2002, China Energy has focused on local infrastructure improvement, with efforts made to redevelop dilapidated buildings into new Tibetan-style residences and build drinking water and power supply facilities in demonstration villages such as Tonglong Village in Nyima Township, Cuba Village in Nyainrong Town, and Payu Village in Seqing Township. The China Energy Hope Primary School, the third school built by the company in the county with an investment of more than 60 million yuan (US$8.46 million), features a complete set of facilities combining Tibetan and Han architectural styles including intelligent classrooms, online-teaching classrooms, dormitories, dining halls and teachers’ dorms. Capable of accommodating 1,200 students, the school is scheduled to be completed and operational in September this year.

After the outbreak of the coronavirus, in response to the shortage of prevention and control materials in Nyainrong County, China Energy’s Tibet-aid cadres actively communicated and coordinated with the company’s Tibet branch and allocated 100,000 yuan (US$14,100) from their work funds to donate 60,000 medical masks, thermometers and other epidemic prevention materials to local primary and secondary schools, which effectively ensured that more than 4,000 students in the county safely returned to school and that the physical health and life safety of local residents were well protected.
