Daduhe Hydropower Plant’s Fishway Intelligent Monitoring Technology Fills the Domestic Gap

On December 14, the outcome of the research project “key technologies of the runoff hydropower plant fishway intelligent monitoring system and their application”, conducted by Daduhe Zhentou Dam Company under China Energy, was listed among 2020-2021 achievements in equipment management innovation of China’s electricity power industry after assessment of the experts from China Electric Equipment Management Association. It filled China’s gap in the field of dam and hydropower plant fishway ecological real-time monitoring and analysis.

The company conducted in-depth research on key technologies for fishway intelligent monitoring and the fish aquatic environment combined model. The runoff hydropower plant fishway intelligent monitoring system it developed adopts AI algorithms, image recognition technology and ecological internet of things to achieve intelligent sensing of information related to fish migration and fishway aquatic environment. Through analyzing the fishway environment and the information of fish migration, it can realize intelligent, digitalized fishway monitoring in both specific and overall manner.

The system has won 10 patents, including four invention patents. As a full set of fish migration intelligent monitoring system that the company has independent intellectual property right, it laid a solid foundation for technology industrialization and spread and filled China’s technical gap in the field of dam and hydropower plant fishway ecological real-time monitoring and analysis, significantly promoting environmental protection and sustainable development of the Dadu River valley.
