Baotou-Shenmu Railway’s Data Governance Platform Project Awarded Outstanding Case of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology

On January 7, the “Smart Baotou-Shenmu Heavy-Haul Railway Data Warehouse and Data Governance Platform Project” developed and operated by Baoshen Railway Group under China Energy was rated as an outstanding case of data asset management by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Launched in June 2021, this project is another major breakthrough of Baoshen Railway Group in an effort to promote smart railway development. It fills the gap in data governance of China’s heavy-haul railway system.

With the goal of “putting data to use”, the project has built a complete set of systems for data warehouse technology, data asset and data services for railway enterprises, including data integration, data asset purification and data service, in a bid to empower enterprises with the information, availability and retrievability of big data assets. Specifically, the data asset system, as the core of the entire corporate data platform system, can realize data fusion, sharing and service across systems and disciplines through standardization means. When innovating business applications for enterprises, the data platform can provide fast, convenient and reproducible data services, to make data truly valuable and empower the digital and intelligent transformation of enterprises.

The launch and operation of the “Smart Baotou-Shenmu Heavy-Haul Railway Data Warehouse and Data Governance Platform Project” will resolve the problems of failures in precise statistics, effective compatibility and shared application due to enterprises’ non-uniform data standards through technology and procedures, thus enabling the shared application of standardized data assets in various business processes for maximization of the economic value of data assets.
