China Energy Supports COVID-19 Fight by Facilitating Energy Transportation

from:China Energy Investment Corporationdate:2020-02-23

Railway, port and shipping companies under China Energy have strengthened efforts to secure safe, smooth operations of their energy transportation channels during the COVID-19 outbreak. From the beginning of this year to February 13, China Energy had transported 51.12 million tons of coal via railway, loaded 27.54 million tons of coals at its two ports, and shipped 17.84 million tons, not only supporting various regions in fighting the epidemic but also helping ensure smooth operation of the national economy.

The Shenshuo-Shuohuang Railway under China Energy is the second major transport corridor for China’s “west-to-east coal transport” project, and Huanghua Port and Tianjin Coal Terminal under the corporation are important hubs of China’s “north-to-south coal transport” project. After the outbreak of COVID-19, all transport enterprises under China Energy have made every effort to strengthen transport services through flexible allocation of vehicle and vessel resources, guarantee personnel and motored vehicle and vessel supply, and enhance transport efficiency. Baoshen Railway Corporation took active action to collaborate with nearly 100 local coal suppliers to transport as much coal as possible. Shuohuang Railway Co., Ltd. fully taps into its potential in transportation to ensure “seamless alignment” between upstream railways and coal sales. On average, the company employs 180 trains, effectively shortening the travel time of thermal coal from Shenfu Dongsheng Coal Field to Huanghua Port Coal Terminal. Tianjin Coal Terminal Co., Ltd. overcomes negative factors such as insufficient inbound trains, undersize vessels, and extended waiting time for departure, coordinates vehicle and vessel resources in a timely manner, optimizes workflow, and increases anchored vessel turnover rate. By doing so, it has over-fulfilled its loading and unloading plans.

Since the beginning of February, based on the situation of the coal market and coal transportation, China Energy has asked its railway subsidiaries to reserve enough vehicles and maintain rational collation of different types of vehicles according to the needs of downstream sales companies. Its shipping and sales companies collaborate with its Hubei and Jiangxi branches to increase shipping capacities of their vessels on the “two lakes and one river” and guarantee the facilitation of energy transportation channels and the supply of coal.
