CTG’s new energy arm wins bid for an 80 MW wind farm in Chongqing-1

China Three Gorges New Energy, the clean energy arm of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), won the bid for an 80-MW wind farm in Wufu Ling, Qianjiang district in Chongqing in November, a project that was listed in 2019 Chongqing Development Plan on November 22.

China allows local governments to make annual plans on wind power development and select contractors through bidding as part of the efforts to scale up the wind power development in an accelerated pace. Bidders, which require few subsidies and offer lower construction and operation costs, are more likely to secure deals.

The win shows the increasing competitiveness of China Three Gorges New Energy in the clean energy industry in southwestern China. The company has developed into the largest new energy operator in Chongqing, where its Wulong wind farm has just completed equipment hoisting and its Wushan solar power plant is now operating at full capacity.
