China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), the world’s top renewable power generator in 2021 and the official partner of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, helps the Beijing Winter Olympics venues achieve 100% green power supply for the first time in Olympic history.
As part of the green Olympics initiative, the Beijing Winter Olympics will mainly use the Zhangbei ±500kv flexible DC power grid that is based on the wind and photovoltaic power generation in Zhangjiakou to achieve 100% green power supply for all its venues, marking the first time in the history of the Olympic Games that all venues are powered by green electricity. The initiative can save 4.9 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 12.8 million tons per year.
As the official power supply partner, CTG has actively participated in the green power transaction of the Winter Olympics, and will supply a total of more than 51 million kWh of green power to the competition zones and supporting facilities, and sponsor 200,000 tons of carbon emission reduction for the Games.
