CTG-built Kaleta hydropower station featured on Guinea stamps-1

Kaleta hydropower station, built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), was featured on the stamps issued by Guinea to commemorate its diplomatic ties with China, making the project a symbol of the friendship between the two countries.

Guinea Post Office released a set of 4 stamps, one of which featured Kaleta hydropower station built by CTG’s subsidiary China International Water & Electric Corp (CWE), to celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Guinea, which fell on October 4.

Kaleta hydropower station, located on the basin of Konkoure River, is the first project built by CTG through EPC model in Guinea. As a key energy project in Guinea, Kaleta hydropower station consists of a 240 MW hydropower plant and a supporting 225 KV power transformation and transmission project.

The project, commenced on April 18, 2012, was commissioned on August 30, 2015, putting an end to the long-standing chronic power shortage in Guinea. The power plant has been operating safely and smoothly since then and generated a total of 3.37 TWh electricity to date.
