Three Gorges hydropower plants posts record-high output in Q1 2020-1

Three Gorges hydropower plant generated a record 16.49 TWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2020, off to a good start for the year, the flagship power plant owned by China Three Gorges Corp (CTG) announced.

The project has sustained safe operation for 4,976 days consecutively, delivered sound results, and made steady progress in scheduled annual maintenance of its power generation units, it said.

The Three Gorges Reservoir has maintained a daily water discharge of over 7,000 cubic meters per second as part of its efforts to ensure a stable supply of clean energy and meet the demand for water supply and navigation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Experts said the sound operation of the plant will give full support to the epidemic control and prevention, laying a solid foundation for the work resumption in the provinces and cities such as Hubei, Zhejiang and Shanghai .
