Hubei Energy Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), said it has obtained the permission to build Pingtanyuan pumped storage power station in Luotian county of Hubei province on December 17.
Pingtanyuan pumped storage power station, around 90 km from Wuhan of Hubei, has a planned installed capacity of 1,400 MW. Upon completion, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, frequency and phase regulation, energy storage and backup for emergency in the power grid of Hubei.
