CTG launches Pakistan relocation scholarship program

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) granted the first CTG-Pakistan relocation scholarships in Jiangxi University of Science and Technology in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province on October 28.

CTG-Pakistan relocation scholarship program, set up by CTG, is aimed to advance the Belt and Road initiative and the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in which CTG is an active participant.

It is a long-term full scholarship funded by a Chinese company to support residents relocated from the dam area in Pakistan. CTG will at least contribute US$1 million to fund up to 100 students with full scholarship.

The program is part of CTG’s fulfillment of its social responsibility overseas. It aims to help the local young people to create a bright future, build an excellent talent pipeline, and nurture the next generation for the long and strong friendship and partnership between China and Pakistan.

The scholarship program adopts a ‘2+2’ collaborative education model, under which the first two years of the program will be conducted at a Pakistani university while the latter two years will be completed by a Chinese university.

The program began in 2017 and will enroll five batches of students in all. The first batch of 18 students completed two years of studies in University of the Punjab before commencing their studies in Jiangxi University of Science and Technology in September this year.
