CTG helps Inner Mongolian farmers increase income with advanced agri-tech

Farmers in a county in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region increased their grain output and income thanks to the technical help provided by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG).

Farmers in Xigou Village in Balinzuo Banner boosted their grain output from 150 kilograms per mu to 250 kilograms in this fall after they applied technology known as the whole plastic film mulching on double ridges, which was provided by CTG in partnership with The Nature Conservancy.

Xigou, a small village with 996 residents, has 8,000 mu farmland, three quarters of which is dry land, making its grain output at the mercy of local weather and precipitation.

The village has begun to apply the technique of whole plastic film mulching on double ridges since 2018, expanding its coverage from 200 mu to 4000 mu, which has increased their income by nearly one million yuan so far.
