CTG Brasil invests BRL 8.2 million in electric mobility project-1

A network of 18 charging stations has already started to be installed by CTG Brasil on a 1,300 km route between the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. The project, which initially joins the São Paulo office to 12 HPPs operated by the company, will be completed later this year, and provides for tests of a viable business model for recharging electric vehicles.

Carried out in partnership with the science and technology institute Lactec and the manufacturer of vehicle chargers Incharge, the Research and Development (R&D) project carried out within the scope of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) will provide charging stations in CTG Brasil’s operations along the Paranapanema River and in the region that interconnects the Jupiá HPP, located between the municipalities of Andradina (SP), Castilho (SP) and Três Lagoas (MS); and Ilha Solteira, between the cities of Ilha Solteira (SP) and Selvíria (MS).

The first eight charging stations installed are in the testing phase at the Jupiá, Ilha Solteira, Canoas I and II and Capivara HPPs, in addition to the headquarters of CTG Brasil, in São Paulo. In the future, the route should be extended, through local partnerships, to public points in the regions of Ilha Solteira (SP), Três Lagoas (MS), Cerqueira Cesar (SP) and São Paulo (SP), making part of the network accessible to general population. When completed, the route will be one of the largest electric mobility routes, in extension, financed by a company in the Brazilian electricity sector.

In addition to the charging stations, CTG Brasil is also making its current electric fleet available, which currently represents 14% of the company's total vehicles, as part of the tests. “Our electric mobility projects are in line with our innovation and sustainability strategy as a way of contributing to access to clean energy on a large scale, benefiting society as a whole”, emphasizes Carlos Nascimento, R&D manager at CTG Brasil.

The implementation of electric stations also brings important contributions to the electromobility segment in Brazil. Processes such as the implementation of a general system for monitoring charging points, communication interoperability, billing and access authorization for vehicles can be analyzed and improved.

“Energy companies play a decisive role in this process of development of electric mobility and that is what CTG Brasil has shown with the project. In addition to opening perspectives for generators to enter this market, it brings the population closer to this technology, which will add to a more sustainable future,” comments Luiz Fernando Vianna, Lactec's CEO.

Social Responsibility
The project will also have a program of visits to elementary and high schools in the vicinity of the HPPs, through a mobile unit and laboratory for teaching experiments on renewable energies and electric mobility. The objective is to provide students and communities with opportunities to experience topics such as mobility and sustainability.
