CTG leverages remote sensing technology to empower the Yangtze River protection initiative-1

China Three Gorges Technology & Economy Development Co., Ltd. (TGDC), a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), and the National Engineering Laboratory of Remote Sensing Satellite Applications under the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established the Three Gorges Remote Sensing Application and Innovation Center in 2020.

Remote sensing satellites are widely used in agriculture, road transportation, natural disaster monitoring, etc. With the electromagnetic wave-sensitive instruments, it is capable of detecting target areas or objects and draw three-dimensional satellite maps, providing precise remedies for protecting the urban aquatic environment and restoring the ecosystem in the Yangtze Economic Zone.

The Remote Sensing Application and Innovation Center has started to monitor the aquatic ecosystem in five pilot cities covered by CTG's Yangtze River protection initiative. It analyzes the parameters of water quality on different dates, monitors the comprehensive water quality, and leverages the power of science and technology to support the high quality development of the Yangtze Economic Zone and the protection of the Yangtze River basin.
