Hubei Energy Group, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corp (CTG), has announced that it invested a total of over RMB 10 billion in a wide range of projects spanning hydropower, wind and solar power, providing a boost to drive the economic recovery in the province.

The projects currently under construction have a combined installed capacity of nearly 850 MW. Among them is Jiangpinghe hydropower plant, which with an installed capacity of 450 MW, is the largest hydropower plant project in Hubei. CTG completed impoundment at Jiangpinghe in November 2019. Meanwhile, the 50 MW Xiakoutang hydropower plant in Lichuan is estimated to have its grouting completed by mid-April.

In addition, the 150-megawatt Banqiao wind farm will install 75 wind power units, each with a capacity of 2 MW. There’s also a coal reserve base construction project, with an annual turnover estimated at 20 million tons, according to the company.

Hubei Energy Group said it has established a work schedule that allows it to accelerate construction while ensuring the quality and safety of the projects and workers. It aims to finish the projects and put them into production by the end of the year as part of its efforts to provide Hubei with energy and drive the province’s post-pandemic economic revitalization and social development.
