CTG puts its first offshore wind turbine installation vessel into use-1

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced that it has launched Three Gorges Energy 001, its first offshore wind turbine installation vessel, into water in Jiangsu on the morning of April 20.

The advanced marine engineering vessel is designed to transport the wind turbines and foundation to wind farms for positioning and installation. The construction of Three Gorges Energy 001 started on November 10, 2020. With a deck area of 2,000 square meters, a maximum operating depth of 55 meters underwater and an 800-ton, 25-meter leg-encircling main crane, it is capable of hoisting mainstream high-power wind turbines in China.

The launch of Three Gorges Energy 001 is a milestone in the development of offshore wind power industry chain. The vessel can be deployed to install offshore wind power equipment offshore wind farms in Liaoning, Jiangsu, Fujian and Guangdong, easing the pressure on other engineering vessels, further expanding the offshore wind power market and enhancing the operation and maintenance capacity of scaled-up offshore wind power.
