Construction for Unit 5 of Hongyanhe NPP launched

After the realization of realized grid-connected of 3 units in March 2015 (Unit 2 of Yangjiang NPP, Unit 3 of Ningde NPP, and Unit 3 of Hongyanhe NPP), as the current domestic largest nuclear power operator and the world's largest nuclear power builder, CGN created another achievement. On March 29, the construction for Unit 5 of Hongyanhe NPP was launched officially, which means that the number of CGN’s units under construction was up to 14 with the installed capacity reached 16.62GWe.

Units 5/6 of Hongyanhe NPP were adopted China’s independent nuclear power technology ACPR1000. Sticking to independent innovation, on the basis of the latest international safety standards, learning from the latest experience feedbacks in international nuclear power fields, CGN developed this independent million-kilowatt PWR technology based on mature reactor design, which possessed major safety technical features of Gen-III technology, and satisfied China’s latest nuclear safety requirements, as it was safe and reliable. Besides, Units 5/6 of Yangjiang NPP, launched construction previously, were also adopted ACPR1000 technology, becoming a significant milestone of CGN’s scientific and technological independent innovation and core competitiveness enhancement.

As the first large scale commercial nuclear power plant in northeast China, Hongyanhe NPP was planned to build 6 million-kilowatt PWR units. Phase-I project includes 4×1119 MWe units, among which Units 1/2 were put into operation on June 6, 2013 and May 13, 2014 respectively. In 2013, there were 6 international nuclear power operation indicators (totally 9 main indicators) of Unit 1 reaching the international advanced level. Unit 3 connected to the grid on March 23, 2015, and was expected to be in operation in the first half of 2015. Engineering construction for Unit 4 progresses well.
