Yangjiang 2 connected to grid-1

    On March 10, 14:45, Unit 2 of Yangjiang NPP was officially synchronized to the gird, marking that Yangjiang NPP has entered the “twin-unit operation era”.

    The construction for Unit 2 of Yangjiang NPP was officially commenced in June 2009, during which CGN elaborately organized project construction to ensure the engineering quality with all major milestones passed inspections by national nuclear safety authority, the construction could be shifted to the next stages only after the verification of full conformance with requirements. Through more than 5 years construction, major key milestones such as civil construction, equipment installation, system commissioning, fuel loading, criticality, turbine runup were finished successfully and, the unit finally realized grid connection. Subsequently unit 2 would launch trial load operation and minor overhauls as planned to steadily push forward to the goal of commercial operation.

    At present Yangjiang NPP is the world's largest nuclear power base under construction, of which Unit 1 has been put into operation in March 2014, the safety and quality of the other 5 units under construction were under good condition with project construction, delivery and industrial safety being generally stable and all indicators under controlled. Cold tests for Unit 3 was completed on November 25, 2014, dome lifting for Unit 4 was finished and major equipment erection have been started, Units 5/6 has continued safety construction and entered civil construction peak stage.
