Yangjiag-3 Connected to Grid

On October 18, at 15:08, Unit 3 of Yangjiang NPP in China General Nuclear Power Corp., or CGN connected to the power grid. During the whole electricity on-grid process, all of the equipment parameter of Unit 3 was stable; the condition of the unit was sound. Thus, CGN has 15 units on grid with a total installed capacity of 15994 MWe.

Operators of the unit will conduct a series of load trial operation and related tests before beginning commercial operations. Withall the tests meeting requirements, the unit would enter the stage of 168-hour trial run with full capacity. During the test, if all the performance indicators of the unit had achieved design standard, the unit in good condition and met relevant requirements for the power grid, it means that Unit 3 is officially available for commercial operation condition.

The construction of Unit 3 was stared on November 15, 2010.During construction process, based on the principle of “Safety First, Quality Foremost”, CGN carefully organized engineering construction to guarantee the quality. After inspected and confirmed by national nuclear safety authority departments with meeting all the requirements, significant engineering projects could enter the next work stage. Unit 3 is finally in operation after completing some important critical milestones such as civil works, equipment installation, system commission, nuclear fuel loading, criticality and steam turbine running over the past five years.

Yangjiang NPP is located in Dongping Town, Yangdong District, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. On November 12, 2008, the State Council approved Yangjing NPP could adopt China’s improved independent million-kilowatt PWR technology to build 6 units, among which, Unit 1 and Unit 2 were put into commercial operation on March 25, 2014 and June 5, 2015 respectively and kept on stable and safe operation. The synchronized operation of Unit 3 means that the generation capacity and environment and protection effects of Yangjiang NPP can be further improved, providing more safe, clean and economical electricity for the development of economy and society of Guangdong.
