[HPR1000 news] Fangchenggang Unit 3 finishes foundation concrete pouring

The concrete pouring for the foundation of the No 3 nuclear island’s safety building, part of phase II of the Fangchenggang nuclear power plant (NPP), was completed on May 23.

The concrete pouring took 48.5 hours, laying a solid 3,274-cubic-meter foundation for the construction of the No 3 nuclear island’s reactor, containment and nuclear fuel buildings.

The buildings on the nuclear island share the same foundation, which will improve the integrity of the nuclear island and reduce uneven sedimentation of the foundation.

The joint efforts of all involved parties and the use of advance notices for risks and design configurations have improved management efficiency and coordination, helping the Fangchenggang NPP’s continued progress.

The station is a Hualong One (HPR1000) demonstration project of the China General Nuclear Power Corporation in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

CGN has experiences of exhaust and drainage pipes installing, water tank grouting and waterproofing, in addition to laying the latest foundation for the demonstration project.
