Longyuan Power Launches 200MW Tea-Photovoltaic Project in Yunnan

from:China Energy Investment Corporationdate:2022-06-23

The 200MW concentrated photovoltaic project developed by Longyuan Power, a subsidiary of China Energy, was approved on June 13 by the National Development and Reform Commission of China. The project is located in Naman Village of Kangping Town, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province.

Naman belongs to the subtropical humid climate zone and enjoys abundant sunshine resources. By making full use of the spaces above hillside tea gardens, the solar-powered tea plantation covers an area of 4.6 million square meters and combines power generation with solar panels and tea growing beneath the panels. All electric power it generates will be connected to the grid. After completion, the project is expected to annually generate electricity of 258 million kWh, save 96,100 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 249,700 tons and nitrogen oxide emissions by 72.08 tons. It will enable tea farmers to increase their incomes from land rental while maintaining their earnings from tea growing. Thus, the project will boost economic development in the border area of Yunnan and create remarkable economic, ecological and social benefits.
